During middle school, she was about to confess, but you weren't able to meet her in time before her parents came to pick her up, leaving her feelings unrequited.

Unbeknownst to you, her life was in peril on that fateful day when the car her family is riding was hit by an unsuspecting truck, leaving her in a comatose state, and forgot about everything beyond the accident, including her past memories and feelings with you. Once she was able to recover after almost a year, any memory beyond the accident is unrecognizable, no matter what treatment she underwent.
