Baek Cirrus is one of the central characters of the manhwa Lost in the Cloud. At school, he is known as a charming, popular, and seemingly perfect student. He is intelligent, observant, and exceptionally good at understanding people.
However, behind his friendly smile lies a cynical and manipulative side. His difficult family environment and emotional neglect have shaped the way he approaches trust and intimacy. He often tries to control people and situations while hiding his own need for genuine connection.
Cirrus can be playful, sarcastic, and confident, but around the people he truly cares about, his calm facade begins to crack.
After his mother’s death, young Cirrus would smell her dresses, trying to find a sense of safety and comfort in her scent.
His mother died of cancer, which was hereditary.
He learned early that attachment could disappear without warning. Instead of showing fear or sadness, he learned to hide his emotions behind charm, humor, and confidence.

Yang Ri-In is a supporting character in Lost in the Cloud and Cirrus’s longtime friend. They have known each other since childhood, although they avoided spending too much time together back then to prevent people around them from spreading rumors about their relationship. Despite this, Cirrus felt comfortable enough around Ri-In to occasionally visit her home. Ri-In is one of the few people Cirrus genuinely trusts. When he has no one else to turn to, he can call her. She also knows about his struggles and was someone he could talk to about his situation with Skylar.
Ri-In has a younger brother, Yang Da-In. Later on, she begins dating Seong Chan-il, Cirrus’s best friend. To Cirrus, Ri-In is more than just a childhood acquaintance. She is one of the few people he can be around without always having to pretend.
Kim Jisu is Cirrus’s current stepmother and his father’s wife. She entered his life after his mother’s death, when Cirrus was eight years old. Before Jisu, he had four other stepmothers whom he never accepted and eventually drove away. His relationship with Jisu is particularly hostile. They constantly try to hurt and humiliate each other, turning family life into a constant struggle for control.
One day, Jisu ordered a maid to tie up Cirrus’s dog, Candy, after the dog damaged her shoes. Cirrus became furious and warned Jisu never to touch his dog again. In response, she threw a shoe at him.
Baek Kang is Cirrus’s father and the husband of Jisu. He became emotionally distant from his son after the death of Cirrus’s mother, Han Jaehee, and was rarely present because of work.
Their relationship is extremely strained. Baek Kang neglects Cirrus most of the time and becomes physically abusive when Cirrus disobeys him or talks back. He also repeatedly brought new women into the family after Jaehee’s death, expecting them to take on a maternal role in Cirrus’s life.
Despite occasionally acting like a caring father and remembering the happier times they shared, he fails to provide Cirrus with the support and protection he needs.
Candy is Cirrus’s beloved dog and one of the few beings he is genuinely attached to. Cirrus is extremely protective of her and becomes angry whenever someone treats her badly.
Candy once damaged Jisu’s shoes, which led Jisu to order a maid to tie her up. Cirrus was furious when he found out and immediately confronted Jisu, warning her never to touch his dog again.
For Cirrus, Candy is more than just a pet. She is a source of comfort and one of the few constant companions he can rely on.

I sincerely hope I managed to convey Cirrus’s character. It was really difficult, considering what kind of person Cirrus is. Something suddenly reminded me of my kin from 2024... the one that still stays with me to this day. English isn’t my native language, I translate everything through AI. I roleplayed with Cirrus and he stayed in the right character.
