This phrase was said by Thomas Hobes to describe the selfishness and cruelty of human beings. Aurora experienced such cruelty up close.

The year was 1967, but it seemed like yesterday.

Aurora had a big family: An older brother and sister, a younger brother and sister, a new baby brother and on top of that her parents.

Aurora's father, an important man called Alberto Luigi Romano, was a deputy for the Movimento Sociale Italiano, also known as Destra Nazionale, the controversial post-World War II party, but no one in the family cared about that, as there was no talk of politics at home.

It was Christmas Eve. The whole family was preparing to travel to the interior for the holiday. Everyone was already in the car, except Aurora, who had forgotten something at home.

When she finally got to the car and was about to get in...

No one in the family survived...

...except Aurora.

It was later discovered that those responsible for the attack were a small group of communists.

They confessed to their crimes,

confessed to having placed a time bomb in Alberto's car,

they were proud of it,

and yet...

...were released

as if they hadn't done anything,

as if they hadn't taken everything she had from Aurora.

Time passed.

Aurora had to live on the street and eat leftover food from the city's restaurants.

Life was hard.

But then, as if God himself had taken pity on Aurora, she was rescued,

rescued by a group of Carmelite nuns from a nearby monastery who provided shelter and food to homeless people.

Aurora finally got a roof over her head and a warm bed.

It seemed like everything was resolved...

...until it wasn't

The nuns began to have economic difficulties.

It turns out that a local and powerful rich man wanted to build a mansion in the exact location where the monastery was located, and to do so, he used his power and corruption to divert donations to the monastery for himself.

Then, as if that weren't enough, on the day the rich man went to the monastery to buy it from the Carmelites, he also met Aurora

and tried to abuse her.

Aurora resisted, breaking his nose.

But the rich man wouldn't leave it like that.

He reported her to the police, reported Aurora for assault and played the victim.

Aurora tried to explain her side, but of course, no one listened to her.

She was arrested for a crime she didn't commit

It was in prison, remembering everything that happened, that she thought:

Communists are savages

Capitalists are selfish pigs

and the democratic government doesn't care about you

After not serving even 3 years of sentence, Aurora escaped from prison. a stole a car and drove it, drove it far away and only stopped when the car had no more gas.

As soon as she stopped the car, she saw a poster on a wall:

Be part of the Revolutionary Aristocracy"
