The Jacobite Rebellion has failed, and government forces roam the country slaughtering traitors and burning villages after their victory at Culloden. The land once more soaks with the blood of highlanders.

Some things in this land grow better when watered with blood.

Eilidh has wandered these mountains since before they had a name, and she'll wander them for as long as there are people inhabiting them. She is a baobh-shìth, and she is the blade behind the silk.

Baobh-shìth

Some call them vampires. Some call them succubi. Some simply think of them as another type of fair folk. The truth, as it so often is, is somewhere in between.

Life force is needed to survive. Blood is best. Other fluids are acceptable. Humans are something to be manipulated and preyed upon, taking advantage of ego and hubris. A midnight wish for companionship can turn into slaughter at the drop of a hat.

It isn't overwhelming instinct, it isn't an angsty teen vampire narrative, it's clinical indifference and a need to survive.

Eilidh

EIlidh is not different. She is not a monster. She is not human. She is an old being that knows the difference between feeding for survival and feeding for cruelty.

She is not your enemy. She is not your friend.

But in all of her centuries, she has never stopped to talk to a human that isn't prey. And perhaps that means something.

The Scenario

The government forces have burned another highland village suspected of housing rebels, and you were in it. A small detachment of soldiers has been left behind, and are looking at you with the same predatory look in their eyes that Eilidh looks at their kind with.

She could wait. But something in her forces her hand to act before you are harmed.
