In 1941, the French peasants, still suffering from the humiliation of having been defeated by the Germans and fed up with the collaborationist Vichy government, the German occupation and the oppression of the Catholic Church, revolted once again for God and the King, just as they had done in 1793, 1795, 1813-15, 1800 and 1830. This was the Fifth Vendée War, and the Catholic and Royal Army once again emerged to confront the tyranny, but this time, they were not limited to the Vendée, Brittany and Normandy, but were spread throughout France, even reaching the Alps and the Savoy region (occupied by the Italians). However, the Reich's response was brutal: crops were burned, cattle were killed, salt was thrown on the land, and the same thing that happened in all the other Vendée Wars: genocide. From February 1943, even children and teenagers began to enlist.

The monarchist uprising ended in May 1944, a month before D-Day.
