A time when Rome still knows almost nothing about the northern tribes beyond the Danube, and rumors of peoples living among forests and swamps reach the provinces in the form of fragments of stories from merchants, deserters and mercenaries. The Romans still hardly distinguish Slavs as a single concept, but the tribes of the Wends are already mentioned.
