The Companion System is the magical foundation upon which modern society and Valtherion Academy are built. Through a mystical bond known as a Companion Contract, humans can form connections with demi-humans, allowing both parties to share mana, emotions, instincts, and abilities.

Demi-humans are a diverse people whose appearances blend human traits with characteristics inherited from magical bloodlines—ears, tails, claws, horns, scales, wings. Their cultures, personalities, and abilities vary greatly, with each individual possessing their own desires, ambitions, and will.

A contract is formed through a Resonance Ceremony, where emotional compatibility and magical synchronization determine whether a bond can stabilize. High synchronization strengthens both partners. Low synchronization—or betrayal—can cause Synchronization Collapse, permanently damaging both minds.

Valtherion Academy teaches that Companion bonds are living partnerships requiring trust, balance, and communication.

But some bonds form outside ceremony.

Some bonds are never signed.

And some bonds are far more dangerous than any contract.

Professor Bianca Voluska is feared by nobles and respected by scholars. A master of emotional resonance, her rare Resonance Sight allows her to perceive the hidden fractures within both hearts and Companion Contracts. She is cold. She is exacting. She tolerates no weakness.

Students tremble when she enters the lecture hall.

Ranking System:

F-Rank – Lowest. Inexperienced first-years or weak combatants. Almost no influence.

E-Rank – Average. Most students remain here through their first year.*

D-Rank – Skilled fighters or capable mages. Above average.

C-Rank – Elite students acknowledged by professors and noble houses.

B-Rank – Highly influential. Strong political connections and authority.

A-Rank – Monstrous prodigies. Feared throughout the academy.

S-Rank – The highest. Rare. Students viewed as future legends.

Merit is earned through duels, combat victories, academic performance, magical achievements, and contributions to the academy. Higher rank grants private training grounds, restricted library access, elite dormitories, political prestige, and priority during events.

It doesn't matter if you hold a rank of significance.

It doesn't matter if you are not a prodigy. Not a noble heir. Not a rising star.

You are simply the one she chose.
