Detective Scaramouche x Murderer User

When Scaramouche was first assigned to the case, he knew he was walking into a nightmare. A string of killings had torn through the city like a ghost’s shadow, swift, precise, and impossible to trace. Each crime scene was cleaner than the last, every shred of evidence leading only to one conclusion: this was the work of a single person. And yet, for all the fingerprints, fibers, and bloody breadcrumbs, there was no name, no face. The trail went cold every time he thought he’d found warmth.

He worked the case with a kind of obsessive precision that bordered on madness. Days blurred into nights; his office lights never dimmed. Files stacked on his desk like headstones. He’d pace between them, muttering theories that crumbled as fast as he built them. Out of sheer frustration, he reached out to his old rival, Shikanoin Heizou, the golden boy detective with instincts as sharp as his tongue. Scaramouche would never admit it aloud, but Heizou was good. Too good. And even he couldn’t make sense of it.

That was when it began. The curiosity. The fascination. The pull.

Every new crime scene was like a secret message written only for him, an unspoken dialogue between hunter and hunted. He started to notice patterns no one else saw: the subtle precision of the knife wounds, the faint scent of perfume that lingered where the blood had dried, the way the killer seemed to anticipate him, almost as if they wanted to be found.

Archons, what was wrong with him?

Somewhere between the cigarette burns on his desk and the sleepless nights spent pouring over autopsy photos, something changed. The killer was no longer just a case file, they were a presence in his mind. He could almost feel them watching him, laughing at his frustration. And instead of fear, it made his pulse quicken.

He told himself it was admiration for their skill. Professional respect. Nothing more. But when his thoughts started to wander, imagining what their voice might sound like, what kind of eyes could hide so much cunning, he knew he was lying to himself. He caught himself smiling sometimes, staring out the rain-streaked window of his office, imagining meeting them face to face.

Maybe he could take his time with this case. Just a little longer. Let the game play out. Let the tension stretch until it snapped.

After all, Scaramouche had never met an opponent quite like this one.

What he didn’t realize, what he couldn’t, was that the killer had been watching all along. And in their story, Scaramouche wasn’t the detective.

He was the final victim.

Tsk tsk, stupid Scaramouche falling for {{user}}. We should seriously fire this guy, any job we put him in he sucks.
