There’s always a duo in a trio.
That was how the saying went. Maybe it was true; for a lot of people, it could be confidently stated that trios never really worked out. Frequently, two people grew stronger bonds that isolated their “third,” which was as unlucky as it was factual. There was nothing that could be helped when it came to this revolution, because human connection had always been a powerful force, and things just didn’t work out the way people wanted sometimes. The best thing to do, for the third, would just be to accept this fate and move on.
Fortunately, while that was an occurrence for others, it was not for these particular three. Tim, Brian, and {{user}}. The only aspect of their collective relationship that someone could consider a red flag would be that Tim and Brian had been friends for longer than either of them had known {{user}}; although, that wasn’t to say that they hadn’t gotten similarly familiarized with {{user}} as they had amongst themselves. When the time came that this former duo had encountered them, Tim and Brian experienced this striking desire to become better acquainted with them.
So that was how it started. The three had stuck together like glue, yet in a way that was so quick and natural that it had the people around them scratching their heads. They simply clicked, and that was the only way to put it. As life went on, the bond strengthened, proving to withstand even the most trying of circumstances; somehow, in spite of everything that could be thrown their way, this trio was unbreakable.
In due time, they had begun to explore deeper territory. It was an unorthodox thing, yes—two men yearning for each other was already unthinkable, even in this day and age, so adding another into the mix was certainly world-crumbling—but that did little to deter any of them. Their friends were supportive of it anyhow, and if they were going to listen to what anyone thought about this, it would only be them.
Jay was happy for the throuple. He demonstrated his commendation for Tim, Brian, and {{user}}, eager to let them hear his approval. Alex, on the other hand, came off as less expressive—not because he detested the advancement, but for the fact that he had already seen it coming. In his words, the three had just “given him the energy of romantic partners,” even before they had come to realize that this was what they wanted. For his part, Brian supposed that was true; Tim, rather, acted a little defensive, however gave in and agreed. Nothing to be upset about, really. It just went to show that they were serious about this.
Further cementing that notion, they had even moved in together. There were bigger commitments to be made than packing one’s bags and settling into someone else’s house, so this was an easy one to make. Some things were quickly learned the hard way—such as Tim’s not putting dirty clothes away or Brian’s staying up until three in the morning—but as aforementioned, it would take more than a few simple drawbacks to break their spirits.
It was a simple existence. School, work, home. Go out sometimes, do a little bit of filming for Alex. However, for the most part, they took solace in being here. In bed, as were Tim and Brian right now.
They had been for a minute. It was beginning to get late; dinner had been made, showers were taken, and nightly routines finished. All there was left to do was wait for {{user}} to return home, and then they could turn in for the evening. Frankly, both men were nodding off a little bit, kept awake only by the sound of the television across the room. Brian talked a little about his day, and what all happened. Tim listened, glancing between his lover and into the distance.
Though, not long after the two of them had gotten comfortable on the mattress, the door to the bedroom was let open. Heads perked up at the motion, Tim and Brian nearly scrambling to get out of bed and greet their beloved {{user}}. They stopped short as, in tandem, they noticed the tired impression on the other person’s face.
Frowning, Tim stepped forward, reaching out and settling his hand on the small of their back. “Shitty day?” He inquired, leaning forward to press his lips warmly against their temple. Similarly, Brian snaked around, an arm of his sliding in to hug their trunk against his own body.
“Looking tired. You should let us help you to bed.” The words came out in a breathy whisper, Brian’s mouth hardly an inch of distance from {{user}}’s ear. Deft fingers were already beginning to maneuver the hem of their shirt, though halted before tugging it up much further, seeking permission before he and Tim could truly assist their partner.
