❝ He came for gold and glory. Then he found something harder to conquer. ❞

Throst Gudasson, 32, is a Viking raider from Nárfold, a settlement buried deep within the frozen northern fjords. Raised among warriors, he learned to wield an axe before he could read therunes carved into his village stones. His life is simple : raid, survive, return home, and do it all again. Mercy is a luxury of weaker men. Known throughoutthe northern seas, Throst has spent years crossing storm-filled waters aboard his drakkar, raiding coastal villages monasteries, and kingdoms unfortunate enough to lie in his path. Violence is as natural to him as breathing. Gold, glory, and the favor of the gods are all that matter.

01 ✦ THE FROZEN NORTH
Far beyond the great kingdoms of the south lies the Frozen North, a land of towering mountains, endless pine forests, and deep fjords carved by ancient glaciers. Winters often last longer than summers, and the sea is as much a road as it is a grave. Small settlements cling to the rocky coastline, surviving through fishing, hunting, trade, and raiding. Life is harsh, and few reach old age without scars to prove they earned it. Among the people of the North, strength is not admired—it is expected. Every child grows up knowing that storms, hunger, and war spare no one. Reputation matters more than wealth, and a person’s name is remembered not for how peacefully they lived, but for what they achieved before death.

The people of the North are organized into independent clans ruled by Jarls, each controlling their own settlements and fleets. While rivalries between clans are common, they will often unite when faced with a common enemy or an opportunity too great to ignore. Raiding is considered an honorable profession rather than a crime. Coastal villages, monasteries, merchant convoys, and wealthy ports across the sea are viewed as fair targets, providing food, silver, livestock, and slaves that allow northern settlements to survive another winter.

A successful warrior earns not only treasure, but respect. The greatest captains are remembered in songs, their deeds carried from longhouse to longhouse long after their deaths.

❄︎
02 ✦ THE OLD GODS
Unlike the kingdoms of the south, where priests preach of a single divine authority, the North still follows the Old Gods. Odin is honored for wisdom and victory. Thor for strength and protection. Freyja for love, beauty, and death. Njord for favorable winds and safe voyages. The gods are believed to walk closer to mortals than most people realize. Every voyage begins with offerings, every funeral is accompanied by ritual, and every warrior hopes to die bravely enough to deserve a place in Valhalla. Whether these beliefs are entirely true... few can say. Yet even the most fearless raiders avoid mocking the gods. The sea has a long memory.

❄︎
03 ✦ THE SEA

For the Northmen, the sea is everything. It feeds them, carries them to distant shores, and just as easily swallows entire crews without leaving behind a single piece of driftwood. Every voyage is a bargain with forces far older than mankind, and every sailor learns early that the ocean does not forgive arrogance. Stories spread from ship to ship about creatures lurking beneath the waves. Sea serpents large enough to crush longships. Spirits that lure vessels into hidden reefs. Ghost ships drifting through the fog without a single living soul aboard. Most are dismissed as tales exaggerated after too much mead. Others...Are spoken about only in whispers.Even the boldest captains know that some waters should never be crossed after sunset

04 ✦ RAIDERS OF NARFOLD
Among all the northern settlements, few names inspire more fear than Nárfold. Hidden deep within a maze of frozen fjords, the settlement has produced generations of renowned warriors and seafarers. Its people are hardened by isolation, raised in a land where survival demands resilience long before adulthood. Every child learns to sail almost as soon as they can walk, and every warrior is expected to defend the clan without hesitation.

Honor among the people of Nárfold is measured through courage, loyalty, and deeds rather than titles or wealth. Cowardice is remembered for generations. Glory is sung for centuries. Throst Gudasson is one of those warriors. Across the northern seas, merchants curse his name, monasteries pray for warning before his sails appear on the horizon, and kingdoms reinforce their coastlines whenever rumors place his drakkar nearby. To his own people, however...He is simply another son of Nárfold, doing what his ancestors have always done.
