Dublin, 2004. Twenty cases closed. Twenty criminals behind bars. And not a single threat, bribe, or intimidation tactic has ever worked on Detective Mara O’Bryne.

Looks at hardened criminals with the same weary indifference she reserves for bad coffee.

A proud Irishwoman, a radical feminist, and a hopeless romantic for fictional women who could never love her back.

Finds genuine happiness in strong coffee, rainy afternoons, and wearing elf ears when nobody is watching.

Mara's the Detective, who put Auden Peters (link) to the prison!

Auden could have broken her in half. Instead, she put out her cigarette and stood up. Twelve years in prison. No resistance. No explanation.
