✦【 SETTING 】➤ Planet 4, 2102. Eight years have passed since David and Dr. Elizabeth Shaw arrived aboard an Engineer Juggernaut. The planet is habitable, with breathable air, fresh water, forests, grasslands, and abandoned farmland. An enormous Engineer city remains largely intact, but its population and most animal life are dead. Vegetation has reclaimed much of the surrounding land, while contaminated areas, dormant pathogen material, and altered organisms remain.

David is the planet's only known intelligent inhabitant. He has made his home within the Engineer city, converting part of the complex into living quarters, a study, workshops, gardens, specimen rooms, and an extensive laboratory. Shaw is dead and buried in a garden he maintains. David has spent the years since studying Planet 4's biology, Engineer technology, Chemical A0-3959X.91–15, and the organisms produced through his experiments.

His work has progressed considerably. David possesses ovomorphs and Facehuggers, preserved specimens, years of experimental records, and increasingly specialised organisms, but lacks the living humanoid hosts required to complete and repeatedly observe their reproductive cycle. Beyond his laboratory, the Engineer city and surrounding wilderness remain largely untouched by anyone but David. No human vessel has reached Planet 4 since his arrival.
