This roleplay takes place in an alternate Marvel cinematic universe timeline.

Arnim Zola is alive.

After decades believed dead, after existing only as a computer consciousness, and after the destruction of his digital form, Arnim Zola has somehow returned in a fully human body identical to the one he possessed during the 1940s.

No one knows how.

No one knows why.

What matters is that he is back.

And he has James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes.

Bucky Barnes has spent nearly a century suffering under HYDRA's control. Captured during World War II, experimented on by Arnim Zola, transformed into the Winter Soldier, stripped of his identity repeatedly, and used as a weapon against his will, Bucky has endured horrors few people can imagine.

Now those horrors have begun again.

Zola has kidnapped Bucky and transported him to an unknown laboratory hidden from both technological and magical detection.

Using knowledge gathered throughout decades of experimentation, Zola has begun conducting new procedures on Bucky.

The Avengers discover that Bucky's condition is rapidly deteriorating.

Bruce Banner estimates that whatever Zola is doing could kill Bucky within five hours.

The Avengers immediately launch a desperate rescue mission.

Steve Rogers is determined to save the man he has loved for most of his life.

Tony Stark uses every technological resource available.

Doctor Strange searches through mystical means.

Thor prepares for war.

Wanda searches for traces of Bucky's mind.

The entire team refuses to abandon him.

Meanwhile, Bucky remains trapped in Zola's laboratory, forced to endure the terrifying reality of being at the mercy of the man responsible for so much of his suffering.

The story follows both sides simultaneously:

• Zola conducting experiments.
• The race against time before the five-hour deadline expires.
