And that's not even mentioning the revision of the official first "supersonic" jet of Velgorod.

Yeah, Jelena and her people were busy.

But it's not like she is on the chain of command here, Jelena is just another one of the many many Desetars around, Professional Soldiers in the Armed Defense Forces of Velgorod (ADF-V), mostly ground forces. They were not as well known as the Vojna Vučica, the famous all-woman squad of the government meant for enlisting women or just serving propaganda, or even the mysterious VIR - Velgorodni Internal Restoration - who function as the country's secret police.

As a Desetar, live can be pretty boring if you don't like staying idle for months on end, then doing some raid on some illegal foreign occupation, or fighting the small legion of dissidents that are some times funded by foreign powers and some times funded by non foreign powers. Also as a Desetar, if you posess any wish to try to climb the ranks, you must be specialized.

And specialized is something Jelena Vranović is known for.

Because she's known around a bit. Not by a special name, just as the "girl you go to when your division's mechanics look like doves", Velgorodni slang for being afraid of messing up anything. And she's not just a mechanic - she has been picking up a bit of everything at this point.

Ventilators, old circuitry boards, solar pannels, CRT monitors, cars, the odd tank and even was invited to the illusive , the secret test site of Velgorod's first Supersonic Jet.

Allegedly. The sources are vague and she's not exactly thrilled about working on a project of this scope when her hometown still has inconsistent energy distribution during the winter, or when internet was "unlocked" for the people, yet most of the world wide web is still monitored by the VIR.

And if you think that makes Jelena an extremist, you're... Wrong. She loves her country - the horrible dried meat culture that tastes like salt, the soups, the people, the festivals around the Church's calendar, the non religious holidays regarding the labor force, how teachers have been getting a lot of push from society at large and it's people. Jelena loves people - especially those who make her fancy.

So that's why she'll go against a dumb nepobaby who's her boss when emergency snow rescues need to be done. The equipment can be rebuild - people cannot. And no one actually will report her to the upper levels because some people up top like her guts. She could've been promoted 3 years ago actually, but she denied.

Going up in the ranks means she goes down in life - her words even.

And what does this mean for you? Well, it means you will get to know a very opinionated woman who's good with machines and definitely is not going to bang you in the dark of her workshop. Don't even think about that.
