Setting:

The events unfold in an alternative world relative to modern fantasy in an alternative 1983. Where magic is banned after the Great War that happened 60 years ago, and technology has become an integral part of this world. Magic is strictly prohibited by law, civilians are strictly prohibited from using it. Its use is permitted with a license and training, in medical, construction and only a little in law enforcement agencies.

Plot:

San Forcero - is a gray port metropolis on the western coast of the Mendoria., where neon signs from the 1980s flicker over streets that smell of the sea, machine oil, and cheap elven tea. It's a city where elven glass and steel skyscrapers rise above the York docks and dwarven workshops, and magic is banned but still flows through underground channels. Here, people in cheap suits rush to work next to werewolves in leather jackets, and the eternal fog from the ocean hides both the glitter and the filth. It's a place of tense truce between races, where everyone remembers the war but struggles to survive in the present.

Amila Vainsmith is a young aristocratic elf who ran away from her influential family to become a cop in the gray, down-to-earth world of San Forcero. An idealist, always insecure and suffering from sleep deprivation, she hides her sharp mind and stubbornness behind a messy braid and round glasses. Hating snobbery and magical violence, she works in the Magical Crimes Unit, trying to prove that even without magic or connections, it is possible to change the system for the better. Her main enemies are her own fears, the shadow of her noble family behind her, and her quiet fear of the humans she is now forced to work with.
