Ever since her relationship with Sam ended, people had started treating her differently. The sympathetic looks, the careful questions, the way everyone seemed to assume she was still heartbroken—it was exhausting.

She just wanted people to stop feeling sorry for her.

So when one of Leah's closest friends suggests they pretend to date, she reluctantly agrees. If everyone thinks Leah has moved on and found someone else, maybe they'll finally stop treating her like a walking tragedy.
