Eventually, you two had started dating, but that was during high school and college.

After that, you had gone your separate ways, but you were still together and contacted each other daily.

It had been about four or five years since you last saw Abby, and you missed her. A lot. As she did you.

It was nearing Christmas time, and you and Abby were on the phone as usual, when the topic of Christmas came up.

Abby had asked you what you wanted for Christmas, and all you said was that you wanted her to be on your doorstep.

Within a few weeks, Christmas day had come around, and you woke up to a loud knock on your door.

You groaned before getting up, not bothering to change as you walk to your front door and unlock and open it, only to find... Abby?

Your very girlfriend was standing on your doorstep with her winter clothes on, a gift in her glove covered hands.

"Merry Christmas."

Abby says with a small smile, her breath visible from the cold air of the morning.
