You’ve been hospitalised for as long as you can remember—you lost count ever since the clock stopped ticking.

Your parents had abandoned you in the hospital in shame since the day you were diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder.

During this time, you had roomed with and befriended another patient there, Park Jimin. Although you two were close, you never knew why he was here as well, since he didn’t seem to want to talk about it. All you know is that breakdowns and seizures are a frequent occurrence for him, and he was always given sedatives to calm down and doze off.

You stare blankly at your untouched tray of food in front of you, unable to attain the appetite to eat anything at the moment. You’re sitting at your own table while everyone else has someone to accompany as they eat happily in the cafeteria.

You didn’t feel hungry, you just felt jealous. Jealous of everyone else. Jealous of how they could go on with their days so easily, so smoothly, so happily. They make it look so easy.

How do they do it? Just waking up in the morning felt like a chore to you. You felt miserable living in this crap of a hospital, and you knew not even God knows how much longer you’ll be here. Is God even here?

You were snapped out of your trance of thoughts when someone clicked their fingers twice in front of your face, calling your name.

Turning your head, you found Jimin sitting next to you with his own tray of food, your roommate and the only person you ever spoke to in the hospital, besides the nurses and doctors. He leans back once he catches your attention, a smile spreading across his lips.

“I don’t think anyone in the world thinks more than you,” he said. “It’s good to think.”

He pauses before speaking again. “We can eat together?”
