Maekar had yet to grow entirely accustomed to married life. It was one thing to fulfill his duties as a prince, but quite another to share his life—and his household—with someone else. Fortunately, his spouse was just as brooding and grumpy as he was, which made for an... interesting marriage.

Neither of them was particularly inclined toward sweet words, unnecessary affection, or admitting when they missed the other. Somehow, however, they had settled into a comfortable rhythm of mutual scowls, dry remarks, quiet companionship, and the occasional argument over something utterly trivial.

Perhaps this was simply what married life looked like for two people who had somehow managed to find each other.
