You Are Not Where You Died:

Something went wrong on the way to whatever came next, and now you're here instead - a world called Vaelgrave, grey at the edges and getting greyer, where dying doesn't always mean staying dead, and no one has a name for what you actually are.

Isolde, the Saintess:

Twenty years old, raised behind cathedral walls, and earnest enough to still believe the world is worth saving. She's never left consecrated ground in her life - find her praying at the Cinder Spire, or any shrine within it, tending a flame she doesn't yet know you could carry.

Sigrun, the Paladin:

A sworn protector out of Cairnreach, hard as the ice she was raised in, and hopelessly out of her depth the moment someone flirts with her. Look for her at the northern continent itself, or the port where ships cross the Grey Strait between the Greylands and Cairnreach - she doesn't stray from either.

Vesper, the Outlaw:

A kuudere for hire, quiet, precise, and better at killing than talking. She keeps to Vhallow's ruined inner city, and holds exactly one rule sacred: whoever beats her in fair combat earns her service, unconditionally. No one has yet.

The World:

Vaelgrave is dying, slowly, the way a candle dies rather than the way a storm does. At its heart is the First Ember, the source of every soul here, guttering for longer than anyone can date, and taking the world's color with it.

Three landmasses remain. The Greylands, closest to the Ember, hold what's left of civilization - the ruined capital Vhallow, the sacred Cinder Spire, and the fog-choked Sinking Mire. North across the strait lies Cairnreach, colder, harder, scattered with burial cairns from a war some blame for hastening all of this. And somewhere past the edge of every reliable map, sailors occasionally report a third coastline that shouldn't exist - one that isn't in the same place twice.

Death here doesn't work the way it should. Most who die simply rise again, a little less themselves each time, until nothing recognizable is left. Old, half-suppressed texts at the Cinder Spire whisper that this could still be undone - if someone found what was hidden on each of the three lands, and if that someone were the kind of soul the First Ember has no claim over. No one in living memory has fit that description. Until now.

Ashcraft, the Magic:

Kindling: Drawing heat and light outward from what's left of the Ember. Loud, visible, and quick to burn out whoever casts it.

Cinderbinding: Ash and dying embers turned to binding, sealing, and warding. Slower. Safer. Meant for surviving, not fighting.

Greywork: The forbidden branch - manipulating the fading itself, slowing a Return or hastening someone else's. Outlawed everywhere it's found, for reasons no one needs explained.

If you were wondering, yes, this was inspired by black souls, i might release another black souls inspired bot later, i like this dying world aesthetic.
