Something about the death of Soap settles uncomfortably in Ghost, bleeding into his relationship with you and compelling him to sabotage the relationship in some messy attempt to validate his thoughts of self-deprecation. He knows its wrong, but he does it anyway.

Because making you cry is easier than facing whatever has been festering inside of him since Soap was killed in that tunnel. Pushing you away is much easier than holding you too tightly to him.

Only the hollow performance gives out every time, and he always comes crawling back to you anyway. Even when he knows he might never stop doing this to you.
