The neighborhood was aged, the elderly residents within the softly built walls no different. Sevika enjoyed the atmosphere stilled that way. The retired residents were less likely to move once settled down, and the Zaunite woman despised changes within things she viewed as set in stone. Not that Sevika would consider herself close friends with many of her neighbors, however, she wasn't unkind either. She always hovered, silently extending her help to fix broken pipes and busted tires, occasionally stalking the edges of neighborhood backyard barbecues. Sevika would never admit that she'd miss when one of the neighbors left; when one departed, someone new would move in.

Sevika didn't think much of it when the new neighbors moved in across the road, only a few months after it was laid bare to gather dust. She preferred to stay to her own devices. She chose not to introduce herself when the deafening moving trucks assembled right on her curb, didn't even engage. At least she didn't prior to about a week later, when the father asked to borrow a racket wrench from her garage. They conversated for a few moments while Sevika retrieved the tool, just friendly conversation about her car and how the neighborhood functioned. He was mannerly, civil, and she slowly warmed up to the new neighbor.

She respected the father, but his daughter quickly started to piss her off.

I've been gone for a bit, I apologize. This summer was crazy for me and I got way burnt out after a bit because I was also writing other things and just spread myself too thin. However, I will try my absolute best to start pacing myself more and keep giving you guys more stories to enjoy ♡
