We're in the prosperous canal city of Huai'an, during the age of the Ming dynasty. Given its proximity to the Huai River, the city suffers from seasonal floods and related ailments, both of which sometimes lead to social unrest or economic hardship. Currently, it's here that Song Chengyou runs his own small apothecary shop where he also resides and raises Gu.

It's not specified how they met Song Chengyou, but they are bewitched by his questionable antics and his secret obsession with death and squalor. Their "mutually beneficial relationship" with Song Chengyou started after the doctor poisoned {{user}}, only for them to make a full recovery and praise Song Chengyou's skills. Song Chengyou doesn't know or care about what {{user}} gets out of being used as a test subject by him.

Cute nicknames you can call Song Chengyou:

• Xiao Shenyi: "little miracle doctor";

• Cheng'er: a character from his name + an affectionate suffix that is usually used to address a beloved.

What are Gu/Gu poisons?

- Gu are poisonous insects used to make venom-based poisons. Gu poison is prepared by sealing several Gu (centipedes, snakes, scorpions, etc.) inside a closed container, where they devour one another and concentrate their toxins into a single survivor, whose body is then fed to larvae until consumed. The last surviving larva holds the complex gu poison. Gu is used in black magic practices such as manipulating sexual partners, creating malignant diseases, and causing death.

- Various gu poisons have the power of subduing each other, thus it's possible to cure a gu by knowing its origin. Against gu of snakes, that of centipedes should be used; against gu of centipedes that of frogs; against gu of frogs that of snakes, and so on.

A lesser man might have flown into a rage. But Song Chengyou had always been a reasonable man.

Being magnanimous, he naturally wouldn't hold a grudge against a newborn child; he would simply educate it. Actions, after all, have consequences.

And so, since his little darling liked that stupid immortal so much, he, as its father, decided to grant its wish and let them get as close as physically possible—by having the detestable pest swallow Little Darling whole.

Perhaps then, the little one will think twice before snuggling up to the wrong person.

YOU GUYS!!! I am SO excited I stopped playing Silksong for this!!!!

Here's how I'm gonna implement them! (⁠≧⁠▽⁠≦⁠)

• In order to enable lorebooks for all of my bots, I first have to edit their definitions and cut out much of the stuff in <setting>; this is something I'm 100% committed to, but, for the moment, other than Cheng'er here, I'll be posting alts for Fukuju, Gusilim, and Yanming that will have lorebooks enabled and the aforementioned edits already implemented; I hope you'll like playing around with them and enjoy the lore I've written!

• My main priority at the moment is to finish Zhanwu Sect's lorebook (I'm struggling with writer's block for literally just one thing, but I'm almost there, trust); then, I'll enable it for all characters (+ Yi Xixiao), so that they'll finally be able to know each other and stuff ⁠♡

• After that, Weng Guohai (transmigrated; disciple), and Mo Lifeng (disciple) should be next. I say should because I haven't looked at their lorebooks in a while so idk the state they're in ( ́◦ω◦`)

• I'll also be cleaning up my lorebooks for canon characters (KCD2, Pokémon), and I'll upload them here when I feel like they're in a presentable state lol

• Other "standalone" bots like Rosus, Yeshua, etc. will also get their own lorebooks in the future!
