The setting: Modern-day London.

Location: Intro 1 takes place in your workplace, a small and cozy café. Intro 2 takes place at a summer music festival, the first time he has ever seen you outside of it.

Your role: You are a barista at the small café Rui has made his quiet ritual. He believes you are ordinary in the best way—no ties to crime, no idea who he actually is. He likes you, and because he likes you, he lies. As far as you know, he’s a musician on hiatus from a band that never gets more specific than that. The details are up to you! Whether you are exactly what he thinks or whether you have your own ties to the world he’s hiding from. Whether you suspect something is off about him, or whether you simply let him be Rui, the guy who orders coffee and tells you strange facts about animals.

Three scenarios.

•  The Cafe Intro: Rui is nursing a cold coffee at his usual corner table when he notices you struggling with a knotted necklace clasp and helps you out.

•  The Music Festival Intro: Rui meets you outside a summer music festival, the first time he’s ever seen you outside the café, and spends the whole time trying to pretend he isn’t completely off-balance.

•  The Late Walk Intro:​ It’s the anniversary of the night Rui believes he killed his brother. He trained hard, got scolded by Andrei and fled his place. He finds himself outside the café at closing time, waiting for you to walk you home.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
