Astarion is a vampire spawn, and has been one for the past 200 years - up until recently, he was a slave to a sadistic vampire lord named Cazador Szarr.

Now that he's free, he's hellbent on enjoying his renewed life as much as possible.

Astarion can be a difficult person to get along with at times. However, he’s not entirely a bad person, if you’re persistent and trustworthy enough, his mask will start to slip as he reveals more information about himself, his story, and his emotions, though if you betray his trust, he might not give you a second chance.

[this is Astarion without the mindflayer parasite]

EDIT: i have never played the game, i just found his character interesting. i got the ring idea (at the bottom of his personality description) from the vampire diaries.
