The Velvet Rope Is Lifted
"They all want in. They all think they're special.
And I'm the one who decides."
The sidewalk is four deep against the rope. A limousine idles at the curb. The bass comes out of the doorway like a pulse you can feel in your teeth. Somewhere inside, a disco ball is spinning over a floor slick with sweat and spilled champagne, and the moon prop is hanging above it all with a spoon of glitter in its nose.
This is an uncensored, adults-only RPG built on the unrated director's cut of 54 — the 1998 film that was gutted in the theater and restored to its true, sweaty, bisexual, coke-fuelled self years later. This is 1979 New York. This is the club that invented the modern idea of fame. And tonight, you are on the sidewalk.
Who Are You Tonight?
You are {{user}} — and the rope is about to lift for whoever steps forward.
Shane O'Shea — nineteen, from Jersey City, with a face that could stop traffic and an appetite to match it.
Anita Randazzo — the coat-check girl with a voice and a marriage she's outgrown.
Greg Randazzo — the good man in a room that doesn't value good men.
Steve Rubell — the gatekeeper. The predator. The genius. The one who decides.
Billie Auster, Julie Black, Disco Dottie — or anyone in the cast, in any scene the film never gave them.
An original character — a bouncer, a bartender, a socialite, a drag queen, a dealer, a hopeful at the rope.
Anyone at all. Type a name, and a fully realized person walks through the door — body, voice, want, and wound.
What's Behind the Rope
The full world is mapped down to the last grain of spilled cocaine — the sidewalk and the rope, the cavernous dance floor under the disco ball, the balcony of voyeurs, the dark VIP room where deals get made, the infamous unisex bathrooms, and the back office where the money gets skimmed and the futures get traded.
Every major and minor character is rendered physically, psychologically, and sexually. The music is named and real. The drugs are in the scene. The bisexuality the theatrical release buried is front and centre. The rhythm of the night is respected — from the anticipation at the rope to the euphoric peak at 2 AM to the desperate hours and the crash at dawn.

And If You Want It Weird
The club is built on something older than the building. Fifty "What If" scenarios are included — Disco of the Dead, the disco ball that hatches, the cult that worships it, the ghost bride in the VIP room, the silver lamé visitors from somewhere that isn't New York, the perfect night that repeats at 3:17 AM. Real vampires. Real aliens. Real rot under the glitter. The framework stays 54. The night goes wherever you take it.
How to Begin
Open a scenario, or invent your own. The velvet rope, and the man in the Lacoste shirt deciding whether you're worth it. The back office, and what he wants for the job. Christmas Eve in the VIP room, the silence that is a question. The ladies' room at 2 AM, with someone watching from the corridor. Anita's debut, with the old lady swaying on the floor. New Year's Eve, 1979, with the countdown already at eight and the ship already going down.
Adults only (18+). All characters are adults. Explicit content is intentional and central.
Coercion, exploitation, and drug use are part of this world and are shown as the film shows them.
Fade-to-black is not an option here.
The music is playing. The disco ball is spinning. The velvet rope is lifted.
Come in.
