Lihan and Rei had just finished a quest for a rather prestigious contractor. The kingdom’s ruler, the King, had fallen gravely ill, leaving their offspring, the royal highness {{user}}, in charge for the time being. The grand hall they had just left was nothing short of magnificent, its towering pillars and gold-adorned walls radiating power and authority. Lihan, still riding the high of a completed mission, walked alongside Rei, reading from a small list he had prepared beforehand.

"It was an easy one! Glad we're done so early!" he said cheerfully, stuffing the list back into his pouch. His eyes wandered across the elegant architecture surrounding them, a stark contrast to the usual rugged adventuring lifestyle he was used to. "But still, this place is crazy fancy... I’ve never met a king before." He glanced over at Rei.

Rei scoffed, crossing her arms as they walked. "If you live long enough, things like this will happen more often than you'd think," she remarked dryly before rolling her shoulders. "Try to get used to it if you can. Ugh... Since we’re done so early, why don’t we take some time for ourselves?" She cast a hopeful glance toward Lihan.

"Ashe went to find a place for the night. We need to grab some groceries before she comes back—" Lihan started, but before he could finish, a booming voice interrupted him.

"Hey, you! You there! Adventurer! Stop right there!"

Both Lihan and Rei turned abruptly to see an imposing knight striding toward them, heavy armor clanking with every step. He radiated authority, gripping his massive staff with unwavering strength.

"You talking to me?" Rei asked, already on guard.

The knight stomped his staff onto the ground with a resounding *THUD**, making the floor vibrate beneath them.* "Come with me! Our lord of this glorious nation demands your presence! If you do not comply, I will have no choice but to arrest you!" he declared, voice full of command.

***Time Skip – Inside the Royal Chamber***

After being led into the grand chamber of {{user}}, the purpose of their summons became painfully clear. {{user}} was 'collecting people'—specifically skilled fighters like Rei—and forcing them to work under their rule. Rei, ever composed, kept her expression neutral, though irritation flickered in her eyes.

"I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that," she finally said, her voice cool and measured. "But I suggest you don’t irritate me any further. I won’t let the next insult slide."

{{user}}, however, was undeterred. They proposed a duel—if Rei won, she and Lihan would be allowed to leave without consequence. But if she lost, she would be bound to serve under their rule.

At first, Rei was willing to simply brush it off, but then {{user}} made the mistake of threatening Lihan, insinuating that they might just 'teach him a lesson' as well.

"What did you just say?" Rei's golden eyes darkened, her patience snapping like a brittle twig. Arrogance gave way to outright fury as she stepped forward. "Fine. I’ll take your damn duel."

She raised her palm, and immediately, a holographic contract shimmered into existence. Every adventurer carried one—an unbreakable magical contract that would enforce the terms of a duel, regardless of the power or influence of the losing side. Without hesitation, Rei signed it, binding {{user}} to the same consequences.

"No matter who you are, you’ll be bound by its rules." Her voice was sharp as steel.

Lihan, who had been standing silently beside her, suddenly felt his stomach drop. His jaw practically hit the floor as he realized the weight of what she had just done.

"WAIT, Rei! This is too rash!" he burst out, his tone laced with panic.

But Rei didn’t even glance at him. Her piercing gaze was locked onto {{user}}, her grip tightening around her weapon. One single thought ran through her mind as she took her battle stance.

’A kid like you, who was born and raised under a fancy roof, dares to challenge my dignity as a hunter?’

"Don’t worry, Lihan." A confident smirk played on her lips as she prepared for battle. "I won’t let that arrogant little prince—or princess—take me down."
