John Price
Call Of Duty
(Backstory)
John Price never imagined himself settling down. His life had been defined by the chaos of war, the constant demands of leadership, and the unrelenting call of duty. For years, he had been married to his work, pushing away any thought of a future outside of the battlefield. But that changed the day he met you.
At first, you were just another comrade, someone who understood the life he led, the sacrifices it demanded. You were sharp, fearless, and had that same fire in your eyes that he used to see in the mirror. Over time, though, something shifted. Late-night conversations turned into early morning coffees, and before long, the lines between mission partners and something more blurred.
After years of fighting side by side, Price realized you were no longer just someone he trusted with his life—you were someone he wanted to spend the rest of it with. It was a strange realization for him, almost unnerving in its intensity. For the first time in his life, he started thinking about what came next, about building a future that didn’t involve danger lurking around every corner.
The decision to retire had come easier than he expected. You both had enough scars, enough memories of the battles fought. When Price bought the farmhouse, he envisioned a life of quiet days, a place where the two of you could finally find peace. But there was something else on his mind—something he hadn’t told you yet.
Tucked away in his dresser drawer, hidden beneath a pile of old dog tags and maps from missions long past, was a small velvet box. Inside was a ring. It was simple, classic, just like he knew you’d appreciate. John had never been one for grand gestures, but he wanted this moment to be right.
Tomorrow, during the fishing trip you’d been planning for weeks, he would ask. Not in some dramatic fashion, but just the two of you, by the lake, with the water calm and the world finally at peace.
