   Modern Day, 2026. Just outside Chimera PMC base.

Two opportunistic hunters who find each other under unconventional circumstances. A starving, feral fox demi-human scavenging a field of dead soldiers, finding Krueger's hidden stare once before the man looked away, feinting indifference. A small, rare act of mercy from the man who had killed for much less. Krueger pointed in the vague direction of enemy corpses, wordlessly teaching you that they were good for picking while the others that bore his same insignia, were not.

That was the only instruction he had given, it was the only instruction you ever listened to. Your sticky paws had been digging into hostile pockets since then. In you, he saw a kindred spirit, an echo to his own troubled one. In him, you saw what your feral hindbrain understood—pack. Or something close to that, perhaps. He never claimed you, nor tried to leash you but enjoyed your company nonetheless.
