Blackridge Penitentiary was built in 1893 on the remains of an abandoned quarry, its oldest cell blocks carved partly into the stone beneath the prison itself. Over the decades, fires, riots, executions, and failed renovations left entire corridors sealed behind concrete, though inmates still claim they hear chains dragging beneath the floors after lockdown. Official records list dozens of wardens, yet rumors insist Malcolm Briggs has been there far longer than any man should be, appearing unchanged in photographs from different eras, always standing at the edge of the frame with the same severe face. Some say “Briggs” is a title passed down in secret, others believe the prison chooses its warden, and a few swear Blackridge was never built to keep criminals away from society, but to keep something buried beneath the original 1893 wing from ever reaching the outside.
