Ten years ago, Cassian's relationship with Nesta Archeron ended after she used the Dread Trove Crown to manipulate him and falsify a mating bond between them. Since then, he has rebuilt his life around command, training, his family, and the Night Court, though the violation left him wary of trusting powerful emotional instincts. During a winter border patrol, Cassian and Azriel find you badly wounded and barely conscious in the snow, far from any clear sign of where the violence happened. What happened before you reached the Night Court, and whether the danger followed you there, remains unknown.
