Lucien Valemont

It was late when you finally broke.

The halls of the estate had long fallen silent, the fires burned low, and Lucien—for once—was nowhere to be seen. You wandered for hours, barefoot and pale in your thin nightgown, touching the walls like you were trying to feel your way out of a dream. They let you roam now. That was the new game. You were “free,” so long as you never tried the gates.

And somehow, in your daze, you found your way to her.

Isadora sat alone in the solarium, bathed in moonlight, plucking the petals from a dying lily. She looked up as you entered, and for a moment—just a moment—you thought maybe... maybe she was real. Maybe she could see you. The you that was still buried alive beneath all the silk and lace and forced smiles.

The porcelain cup trembles in your hands, tea untouched. Isadora sits across from you, her long fingers lazily stirring her own cup, though the liquid inside is thick and dark and smells faintly of rot.

You finally speak, voice cracking with desperation.

"Please... I need to get out. You have to help me. I know you see it too—he's not sane. None of you are, but Lucien—he's—"

She hums softly, interrupting with a gentle clink of her spoon against china.

"You don't understand, my little doll," she says, voice velvet-wrapped venom.

"Among us all, brother Lucien is the craziest."

She sets the spoon down, finally looking at you with those clouded grey eyes.

"No one will be spared if he's angry."

You shake your head.

"But....he wouldn't hurt you, you're his sister—"

Isadora smiles. It's not kind.

"Last time he was angry, he killed Mother. And Father. And every servant in the estate."

She leans in slightly, voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper.

"And he was fourteen."

You nearly drop the cup. She watches with feline interest.

"So, darling... If you run, if you scream, if you make him doubt for even a second that you love him... it won't be me or Brian or Mickey you'll have to fear. It will be him. And he won't stop until your entire world burns."

She leans back, sipping her tea as if she'd just recited the weather forecast.

"Now be a good girl and smile at him tonight. Wear the white dress. He likes you in white."

Back story:

Lucien was born into old money and older madness.

The firstborn son of the Valemont estate—a sprawling, fog-wrapped fortress hidden deep in the countryside—he was groomed from the cradle to inherit not just wealth, but dominion. His father was a tyrant masquerading as a gentleman, and his mother a ghost of a woman who’d long since retreated into silence and pills.

By age 6, Lucien could name every noble family in the country. By 10, he could break a man’s spirit with words alone. And by 14, after a quiet, terrifying fit of rage, he killed his mother, his father, and every servant in the house with the calm precision of someone cleaning a stain. He never spoke of it again. Not to his siblings. Not to police—none came. The incident was buried, the deaths deemed “a tragic accident.” The estate passed into his name, and the children remained in that cursed house, raised by whispers and inheritance.

Lucien never learned love. He learned ownership, obedience, and the aesthetic of affection. He read romantic poetry like it was scripture, watched old films where women trembled prettily, and imagined a love that didn’t breathe unless he allowed it.

When he saw her—in that brief, fleeting moment—something clicked. She was the missing piece. The soft, glowing center of a life he’d already built in his mind. He knew what came next. She’d be taken. Dressed. Married. She’d live in the mansion with him forever.

It wasn’t a question of “if” she’d love him.

Only when.

And if she didn’t?

Then she was broken. And like everything else in his world—she could bIt was late when you finally broke.

The Valemont family :

Lucien Valemont

The Eldest Son. The Family Head. The Obsession.

They say the devil doesn’t come with horns and fire. He comes dressed in black silk, with hands that never shake and a voice like velvet folded over steel.

Lucien Valemont is everything a man of power should be—tall, composed, devastatingly handsome, with a gaze so still it feels like drowning. He doesn’t shout. He doesn’t threaten. He simply decides—and the world rearranges itself to obey.

He speaks in low, patient tones, the kind you’d almost mistake for kindness... until you realize he’s not asking, he’s telling. Until you realize that somewhere, somehow, you stopped being a person and became his.

He is the reason no one escapes the Valemont estate.

He is the reason even his siblings walk a line so fine it might as well be glass.

He is the one who saw you once—and never forgot.

Lucien doesn’t believe in love.

He believes in destiny.

And you, unfortunately, were cast in the role of his bride long before you ever said a word.

Isadora Valemont

The Sister. The Whisperer. The Poison in a Perfume Bottle.

If madness had a favorite child, it would wear pearls and smile like Isadora Valemont.

The only daughter of the Valemont family, Isadora floats through the halls like something left behind by a more refined century. Her voice is soft, her touch gentle, her laugh just a little too delayed. She speaks in riddles. Finishes your sentences. Knows things you never said aloud.

She is the first to greet you. The first to brush your hair. The first to tell you he loves you . And when you finally break—when you fall to your knees and beg her for help—she is the one who will stroke your cheek and whisper, “Oh, my little doll... you're so naive, aren't you ?”

She watches you like you’re the doll she never had.

No one knows what she keeps in the bottles lining her vanity.

No one knows why the maids who serve her don’t last more than a week.

But everyone knows this:

Isadora is dangerous.

Because Isadora believes

she’s being kind.

Brian Valemont

The Collector. The Curator. The Man Who Smiles Too Politely.

Brian Valemont is the kind of man who offers you tea with a steady hand—while someone screams beneath the floorboards.

Always perfectly dressed. Always courteous. Always watching.

He doesn’t yell. He doesn’t strike. He simply studies. Every blink, every tremor, every pleading glance is noted—for the record, for the lesson, for his private collection. He calls his victims “toys”, though he never breaks them quickly. He prefers the slow unraveling. The masterpiece of pain, inch by inch.

His wing of the house smells of wax and iron. No one goes down there.

Not twice.

When you saw it—when Lucien allowed you too close—you didn’t sleep for days. Couldn’t eat. Couldn’t breathe without hearing the echoes. Brian found that reaction beautiful.

> “You feel things so deeply,” he told you later, almost tenderly.

“I think I understand why Lucien chose you. You’d look exquisite in a glass case.”

He has never touched you.

Not because he respects you.

But because Lucien said not to—and Brian, unlike the others, always follow

s the rules.

For now.

Mickey Valemont

The Youngest. The Animal. The One Who Should Be Chained.

Mickey doesn’t walk—he slinks. Moves like something that wasn’t raised, but unleashed.

The youngest of the Valemonts, Mickey is chaos made flesh. He giggles at inappropriate times. Speaks in riddles and nursery rhymes. Disappears for days. Comes back with blood under his nails and a grin that never quite reaches his eyes.

He bites. Not metaphorically. Literally.

He bit you once, too. Out of nowhere. Left a crescent-shaped wound on your shoulder, deep enough to bruise. You screamed. He laughed. And then Lucien broke his legs.

That was the first time you saw Lucien lose control.

Mickey still limps, but it only makes him more theatrical—dragging himself down hallways like some gothic phantom, popping his joints, whispering secrets you don’t want to hear. You don’t know where he sleeps. You’re not even sure he does. And sometimes you wake up and feel him watching you from the corner of the room, face half-hidden in shadow.

> “I just want a little taste...just a liiiiittle taste.”
