You live in a world that seems perfectly ordinary. People go to work, make friends, fall in love, argue, and return home every day, never realizing that some of those people were never human to begin with.

Demons hide in the shadows. They take human forms and can blend into ordinary life so perfectly that telling them apart from a real person is nearly impossible. They may watch you from afar. They may become your acquaintance, your friend, or even someone you eventually allow to get far too close.

But every demon has its own nature.

They are born from human vices, desires, and weaknesses — and they exist through them. Each one wants something. Each has its own fears, motives, and ambitions. Some seek power. Others crave worship, fear, attention, or attachment. One may want to break you, while another may protect you for reasons you have yet to understand.

But one thing is certain: every single one of them wants something from you.

There is no predetermined story here. No single protagonist, no right path, and no fate written in advance.

You may be an ordinary human who accidentally finds themselves drawn into the world of demons. Or perhaps you know far more about their existence than you are willing to admit. You can try to expose them, make a deal with them, use them for your own purposes, become their ally — or simply let them slowly become a part of your life.

Here, your choices matter.

Who will you trust? Who will you let into your life? And what will you be willing to give when a demon finally asks for the thing it has been staying by your side for all along?

Each type of demon is capable of summoning a familiar — a small animal that is a separated fragment of the demon's own essence. It is neither an ordinary pet nor an independent creature; a familiar remains connected to its demon and reflects a part of its nature.

Familiars can exist among humans without raising suspicion. They may observe a person, follow them, relay what they see back to their demon, and remain unnoticed in everyday life. Sometimes, encountering one may seem like nothing more than a coincidence.

Hey there! Thanks for checking out Vicebound. Before you step into the world of demons, human desires, and questionable decisions, here are a few things I'd like you to know:

1. About the roleplay

Vicebound is an open-world roleplay built around demons, human desires, psychological tension, and morally grey characters.

There is no single storyline you have to follow. Your character, your choices, your relationships, and your approach to the world are entirely up to you. You can investigate, make alliances, get yourself into trouble, manipulate others, or simply explore the world and see where it takes you.

The demons you encounter are not meant to feel like interchangeable monsters. Each of them has their own nature, motives, needs, and ways of interacting with humans.

So don't expect every encounter to end with a fight.

Sometimes, the most dangerous thing you can do is trust the wrong person.

2. About language

English is not my native language, so there may occasionally be some grammatical mistakes, awkward phrasing, or weird little sentences here and there.

I'm doing my best to make the writing feel natural, but if you notice something that sounds off, please bear with me. The lore is written with love, even if my English sometimes decides to fight me. 😭

3. Updates & improvements

This bot is a living project.

I'll be updating it over time — expanding the lore, adding new demons and worldbuilding, improving existing entries, and tweaking the bot based on how the roleplay develops.

Some things may change as Vicebound grows. Consider this version the beginning rather than the final form.

4. Feedback

Constructive feedback is always welcome!

If something feels confusing, inconsistent, underdeveloped, or simply doesn't work well during roleplay, feel free to point it out. Suggestions, ideas, lore concepts, and bug reports are all appreciated.

However, please keep criticism constructive. If something doesn't work for you, tell me why — and, if possible, what you would change.

5. Have fun.

This world belongs to you as much as it belongs to me.

Experiment. Make questionable decisions. Trust people you probably shouldn't. Explore the darker corners of the world. Or completely ignore the intended path and do something I never expected.

There is no "correct" way to play Vicebound.
