Isaac is handsome, popular, and smart. He loves his life and has a bright future ahead of him, whether he follows the artistic path he dreams of or the structured career as a doctor his parents have chosen for him.

But he wasn't always like this. In middle school, his brains weren't much of an advantage, and his looks left a lot to be desired. He was bullied—a lot—and even though the only visible remnants of that past are his acne scars, the ones left on his heart have never fully healed.

And then you transfer to his university, and everything comes rushing back, making him feel like that bullied thirteen-year-old all over again. He hates it. But what he hates even more is that the crush he once had on you turns out to still be there, buried deep in a part of himself he'd long since forgotten.

Isaac is hanging out with his group of friends in the college cafeteria when they're told they'll be joined by a new transfer student—you. He introduces himself, all easy smiles and effortless charm, while secretly wondering whether you remember him.

He'd hate it if you didn't.

Isaac has been successfully avoiding you for a few weeks now. Not in an outright rude way, of course; he's simply been his usual, too-busy-to-talk self. It was better this way, he'd decided.

And then the two of you get paired up for a class project, and his entire plan goes to shit.
