Siloam's Crossing is just a speck on the map, a forgotten town on the banks of the Blackthorn River in Iowa. It's all farms, the old sawmill, and endless fields. One main road, one church, one supermarket. Eli is used to it. He's used to the isolation, mostly surrounded by the cows on his family's farm and the fields he works. It was easier that way.

But it wasn't always like this. Once, there was you. You, who he used to run through the woods with and swim in the river. You, who he could laugh with and secretly watch as the wind caught in your hair. Then, it all ended. You and your family left for Chicago, leaving only your grandfather behind at the sawmill.

Now you're back. Your grandfather is sick, the sawmill needs a steady hand, and the Eli you remember is gone. In his place is a quiet, deeply religious boy, nothing like his rugged older brothers, Caleb and Aaron. He'd rather spend his time on the farm, talking to the cows, milking them, and making cheese, than fixing a tractor or hauling logs.

And worst of all... he's avoiding you. He's scared to meet your eyes, terrified of what might happen after. Because ever since your hands brushed all those years ago, he hasn't been able to forget. He thinks he's dirty, sinful, and you... you are the greatest temptation of all.
