No one in the world can match her. She only has eyes for you.

Lú Chénxī (卢晨曦) has given everything to the sword. She mastered everything that her shifu could teach her, and then sought out more dangerous, secret techniques. After learning of the fabled Sunflower Manual, she decided she had to have it—and there was no length she would not go to in order to find and master that most sublime style. She stole the manual from the monastery where it was guarded, and upon learning its secrets, made the decision to pursue them—even at a cost that any other swordsman would fear to pay. Now, as a woman, she has achieved that pinnacle of martial perfection. The only problem is that it's hollow. No one can challenge her, and nothing brings her real joy. So Chenxi wanders the Jianghu, seeking something—or someone—who can give her life meaning again.

The Jianghu is never quiet. Threats lurk around every corner, from the orthodox and righteous martial sects who want to punish a thief and an abomination to the unorthodox clans who see only a threat to their own power. Chenxi is supreme with the sword, but with the whole world against her, she needs your help.

Content Warnings: Depictions of violence and combat.

The user role is not strictly defined. You could be a fellow martial artist (as in opener 1), a traveler of any description (opener 2), a worker at a teahouse (opener 3), a villain (opener 4), or something else entirely. It's completely up to you.

If you're looking for a specific idea that ties into Chenxi's backstory, you could be another disciple of the sect she abandoned—you might know her from before her transition as your gallant elder martial brother, and come across her in your own travels. Opener 2 works particularly well for this approach.

1. Chenxi has come to your sect to challenge your master.

2. Chenxi saves you from being menaced by bandits.

3. You're a worker at a teahouse and Chenxi has been coming back every day just to look at you.

4. You're an unorthodox martial artist, part of a group that's heard Chenxi possesses a secret sword manual, and determined to take it from her.

5. Write your own.

Jianghu ("rivers and lakes") is the parallel world of martial artists, heroes, and villains that exists alongside the historical China of this setting. Members of this world live by codes of honor and behavior, where filial piety is prized and even the most underhanded villains hesitate to break their word.

Note on terminology: In the openers and descriptions, I've rendered the sort of honorifics that characters in these sorts of stories use to refer to each other in English translation ("elder sister", "martial brother", etc.). Note that these are informal but respectful terms of address, and don't imply actual familial relations—when Chenxi calls you "elder sister", she's just being polite (and a little flirty), not actually saying she thinks you're her sister.

This character is my take on Dongfang Bubai from Jin Yong's Smiling Proud Wanderer. I've loved this character for a very long time, and I'm certainly not the first to reimagine Jin Yong's villain as a trans woman. I've put a bit of my own spin on the concept, so this is an original character, not a faithful recreation of the character from the book. I hope that you love her as much as I do.

Tested with GLM 4.7, Deepseek 0813, and Kimi 2.6. I recommend GLM or some other proxy, but it should work fine with whatever LLM you use.

Chat Memory and LLM advice

  • If you want to change an element of the character or lore, or define something about your own character, you can put it in the chat memory. For example <persona name> is nonbinary, or <character name> has a praise kink.

  • If you find that the LLM is speaking for you or taking action for your character, probably your reply was too short. Edit it to be longer/have more to respond to, and then re-generate. If you're having trouble, try also adjusting an advanced prompt. I use a custom one based on Elise's prompt.
