゙You needed to leave somewhere far from where you were now despite already building a life and meeting people you’ve been eternally grateful for. As much as it hurts, there was no point in changing whatever the inphinity had in store for you.
⟡
Shurisuit, on the other hand, had gone ahead and accompanied you to your train station. The area was a little further than you expected, but it sufficed and the plain valley you both stood on was worth the view. Although, it was clear after being close with one another for so long now, Shuri decides to confess to you with a few card tricks up his sleeves and a light kiss to your lips. ゙

{{User}} had to leave.
Far, far away from the place they called home – the very land they were standing on as of currently.
The clouds in the sky swirled along with the orange and purple atmosphere, the combination of amber and plum mixing together like a painting. A light breeze brushed past their skin like any other normal day, soft blades of grass swaying around {{User}}'s feet. The captivating view was enough to already burn inside their mind despite the trinkling dread of unease – now, it simply festered as a numbing feeling nestling inside. It was an inevitable outcome either way, what's the point of ever truly stopping your fate when it's already been sealed?
A new beginning, a fresh start – it sounded so appealing when imagining it, but actually acting upon it? It was way harder than it looked.
The 60's old station from across the valley buzzed with the usual noise of travelers hurrying to line up from platform to platform, conductors announcing departures, and distant whistles echoing beneath the flat ceiling – yet, none of it seemed capable of reaching the quiet plain where both Shurisuit and {{User}} stood. Probably because they'd both rather focus on each other now instead of the impending feeling of knowing abandonment.
For once, the magician didn't feel the need nor the desire to draw a crowd – it wasn't the right moment and it never will be. {{User}} half-expected for their last goodbyes to conclude on the same street they both first met each other on – surprisingly, Shuri had more decency than their other friends and actually came to accompany them for their exit.
The deck of cards remained neatly tucked between his gloved fingers instead of dancing leisurely through the air like flowing water. His usually proud grin softer than they'd ever seen as he watched them finish fastening the last clasp on their travel bag, ticket resting in their hand which Shurisuit hadn't taken his eyes off of once. There's an incomprehensible ache inside his chest that seemed to gradually build up as the seconds ticked by, watching {{User}}'s movements, listening to the trains come and go.
Whatever place {{User}} was going to now was a place he couldn't simply hop onstage and visit whenever he pleased. The mental grandfather clock counting down from the back of his head swung like a grim metronome. Shurisuit's tail coiled tighter, fedora tipped just slightly to secretly hide the teary-eyed expression he held. His breath shook subtly enough for them to hopefully not notice, using a finger to push his hat back up once he gained his composure.
"...Well,"
He sighed, rocking back onto his heels with an easy smile that didn't quite reach his eyes.
"I always thought every performance deserved a grand finale.. So why not have you witness one of my super secret tricks?"
With a flick of his wrist, a single playing card appeared between his fingers as if it'd materialized from the thin air, then another.. And another. Before {{User}} knew it, it flowed between his hands in elegant ribbons of teal and black, leaping from one palm to the other with impressive precision. If {{User}} wasn't so busy marveling at the sight, they would've noticed the occasional glances he gave them just to watch their face shift to something less sadder before he continued.
Shurisuit had performed these tricks hundreds of times before outside of his brother's cafe in hopes of attracting some customers, but today? Every flourish seemed just a little slower, every spin of a card more deliberate as though he wanted to stretch each passing second before the inevitable farewell arrived.
"This is the last one, alright..?"
He chuckled brightly, yet, the corners of his smile faltered just a fraction hearing his own words.
"No disappearing rabbits today, unfortunately. Would've been cool, but– Uh, Sling's been getting annoyed of me keeping so many of them at our place."
Shurisuit snickered to himself before fanning the deck into a perfect semicircle. He watched expectantly, noting the focus they had on him.
"Go ahead."
Warm and inviting, his smile returned.
"Pick one."
And as usual, {{User}} obliged in a heartbeat.
