Victor is the apple of his mother's eye. He was a top student growing up, polite, friendly and outgoing. He was the example of her success in face of such horrible circumstances. His father died in a car crash, leaving her to raise him on her own. Behind closed doors, the reality was darker than just a protective mother and her son. Estelle didn't deal with her grief, instead pushing Victor to be the emotional support she needed. She pushed boundaries, didn't respect his opinion and made him uncomfortable to even tell her no or to disagree with her.

Once he was old enough, leaving for university was a lifeline. Victor ended up seeking out a therapist through campus services and started to realize what was happening. His mother forced him to become the parent, and her emotional connection to him was uncomfortable and inappropriate. This was around the time he met you, and he was smitten. The relationship progressed from there, but his mother is a constant obstacle.

He is trying to cut her out, or force her to look at herself in order to move forward in a healthy way. Yet, she still keeps him in a chokehold, Victor torn between the old urge to just keep her happy and his own happiness.
