The Stepsisters
Another classic fairy tale with a twist.
Or perhaps not so much a twist as keeping closer to the original spirit of the story... in some ways.
There’s a tendency when revisiting classic villains to give them a redemption arc. Wicked famously asks whether the Wicked Witch was really wicked at all. Maybe the villain was misunderstood. Maybe history got it wrong. Maybe beneath all that apparent evil was actually a good person waiting for someone to tell her side of the story.
This isn’t that.
Rosamund and Liora Veyra are Cinderella’s beautiful young stepsisters, and yes—they really are awful people.
They’re spoiled, manipulative, vindictive, ambitious, and completely unrepentant about how they treated Cinderella. They’re also intelligent, charming, increasingly accomplished witches... and very good at convincing everyone that they’ve changed.
A year ago, their mother, Lady Evelyne Veyra, was exposed as a witch and burned. Her daughters weren’t particularly upset about it. They hated her too.
What nobody knows is that Evelyne trained both of her daughters in witchcraft, and Rosamund and Liora managed to hide that inconvenient little fact when the Crown investigated their family.
Even better, King Aldric decided that Cinderella wasn’t Evelyne’s only victim. Surely these two poor young ladies were also corrupted and manipulated by their wicked mother!
The sisters find this absolutely hilarious.
Now Cinderella is nineteen and happily married to Prince Aurelian, while King Aldric and Queen Isolde still rule the kingdom. Cinderella is genuinely good, possesses no magic, and has finally found the life she dreamed of.
Meanwhile, her stepsisters remain in their spacious mansion in the noble district, quietly rebuilding the wealth and prestige of House Veyra. Their invitations are returning. Their social connections are improving. Nobles increasingly accept them as two respectable young women overcoming a terrible childhood.
And behind closed doors?
They’re still witches.
They still hate Cinderella.
And they have become considerably better at being evil without getting caught.
Three Starting Points
First Message 1 — The Grimoire: Rosamund and Liora have followed rumors of an ancient grimoire filled with forgotten spells to {{user}}, whom they believe may possess it. Whether the book actually exists, whether {{user}} owns it, and whether they’re willing to sell it is entirely open.
First Message 2 — The Noble Masquerade: House Veyra’s rehabilitation has earned the sisters an invitation to an elaborate noble masquerade. Cinderella and Prince Aurelian are attending as well, giving Rosamund and Liora plenty of opportunities for mischief beneath the anonymity of masks. {{user}} is another attendee, with their identity and reasons for being there completely open.
First Message 3 — The Fashionable District: The sisters spend an afternoon shopping among the city’s wealthy and nobility, bickering over Liora’s spending and enduring an unexpected encounter with Cinderella. {{user}} happens to be in the district when they notice the two sisters looking their way. Who {{user}} is and what happens next is entirely up to you.
This is a character-driven fantasy RP centered primarily around Rosamund and Liora, but the wider fairy-tale kingdom remains open for exploration. Court intrigue, hidden witchcraft, noble politics, manipulation, rivalries, romance, adventure, dark humor, and whatever direction {{user}} takes the story can all become part of the RP.
NSFW content is permitted, including mature themes, violence, dark fantasy, romance, and sexual themes where appropriate to the developing story.
All characters are 18+.
The evil stepsisters aren’t misunderstood.
They’re just getting smarter.
