The Shattered Earth
π THE SHATTERED EARTH
Post-Apocalyptic Open World Scenario
The sun went dark 35 years ago. The crystals that killed it are still spreading.
ABOUT
This is a large-scale, heavily lorebooked open world post-apocalyptic scenario. There is no single story being told β you define who you are, where you start, and what you're after. The world reacts. The NPCs have their own agendas. The factions are at war with each other's ideologies, not just their armies.
This isn't Fallout. It isn't a generic wasteland. What makes The Shattered Earth distinct is its identity β Chroma crystal mutations, a permanent twilight sky choked with ash, a broken global economy running on Pallid Shards, and three competing projects all claiming to be humanity's last hope.

THE WORLD
Decades ago, the Shattering occurred. A massive meteor struck South America and obliterated the continent, triggering a chain of catastrophes that remade the planet. The impact brought the Shards β crystalline structures that defied physics β and a wave of crystal dust that mutated every living thing it touched. Most life died instantly. What survived came back wrong.
The impact triggered The Deluge, a seismic shockwave that collapsed global sea levels and sent tsunamis wiping out every coastal city. Survivors fled inland, only to be driven back by the global freeze caused by the Ash Veil β a permanent toxic layer of ash that blotted out the sun entirely. No sunlight. No agriculture. No warmth. Humanity retreated to the coastlines, using the ocean as a thermal battery, and began what they call the Eastern Reclamation.
The world now runs on Pallid Shards β crystalline chips that power everything from city shields to weapons. Wireless communication is dead. Technology runs on hard lines. Time is tracked by mechanical clocks and The Cycle. The sky is never blue. The sun is a memory.
THE SIX CITIES β EASTERN RECLAMATION
The last organized civilization. Six city-states in the Far East, each protected by massive sea-walls called Bulwarks and governed β loosely β by the Eastern Coalition. They are not utopias.
πΌ Neo-Tokyo β Vertical megacity. Sky-Spire elite at the top, neon-lit Neon-Mid rings, Crystal Dens and the slum-packed Drift at the base. Cultural capital and trade hub.
βοΈ Seoul Fortress β Pure military state. Five-layer Bulwark, garrison culture, no luxury tolerated. The Coalition's armed fist. Weapons are manufactured here. Dissent is not.
π Beijing Prime β Political heart and industrial engine. Home of the Council of Six and the Bureau of Allocation. Runs on synthetic protein paste and coal smoke.
π’ Shanghai Habitat β Coastal trade hub. Grand Docks, open-air Exchange District, and the corroded Salt-Slums packed with refugees and smugglers. Where deals are made and bodies disappear.
π£ Busan Port β Primary protein source for the Reclamation. Rusted oil-rig Net-Towers, leviathan hunters on the Bone-Beaches, and the grittiest bars in the known world.
πΏ Osaka Sanctuary β The agricultural miracle. Pyramidal Green-Domes growing real food under UV lights. The most protected and most coveted city in the Coalition. Home of the Seed Vault.
THE WIDER WORLD
Beyond the Six Cities, the globe is a patchwork of lethal terrain and desperate cultures.
The Zero Point (South America) β The impact crater. Physics doesn't work here. Floating terrain, warped gravity, the Heart of the Zero Point pulsing at its center. Objective of all three Projects.
The Iron-Lung (Europe) β A continent-spanning underground subway network turned shanty-town. Millions live in the tunnels lit by Glow-Moss and salvaged electrics.
The Redwood Empire (West Americas) β Massive mutated forests. Sky-Tribes live in the canopy above the ash line, never touching the toxic ground below.
The Alaskan Thermal Line (North America) β Frozen whaling territory powered by geothermal vents. Ice-leviathan hunters. Home to a buried secret facility deep under the permafrost.
The Saharan Glass Desert (North Africa) β The meteor's heat fused the sand into jagged mirror fields. Blindingly reflective even without sunlight. Lethal without specialist gear.
The Frozen Peaks (Himalayas) β Absolute zero. An impassable wall of mountain and ice. What is hidden there remains officially classified by the Coalition.
The Flotillas (Indonesia) β Drowned island chains. Entire cities built on linked ships and platforms. Maritime law, salvage culture, and Leviathan-haunted waters.
CRYSTAL MUTATIONS
The crystals aren't just environmental β they're biological. Extended exposure to crystal formations or dust causes mutation: colored veins grow under the skin, shards erupt from joints, eyes change and glow. Those who consume Chroma crystals β the Awakened β develop superhuman abilities at a terrible cost. Each use accelerates Crystal Rot: three progressive stages ending in organ failure, cognitive collapse, and transformation into a Void Wraith. The only rumored cure is the Heart of the Zero Point.

FACTIONS & POWERS
Eastern Coalition β Governing body of the Six Cities. Military-bureaucratic and resource-obsessed. Their Iron Accord makes crystal mutation a capital offense β biological sedition, punishable by death.
Hunter Guild β The professionals of the wasteland. Ranked Iron, Silver, and Gold. They clear Crystal-Beasts, run bounties, guard caravans. Neutral Guild Halls across the world. Workers, not heroes.
The Awakened β Loose faction of Chroma-mutated humans. Hunted by the Coalition, bodies slowly failing. Lady Obsidian β Queen of the Shanghai Slums β is the closest thing they have to a figurehead.
Cult of the Core β Fanatical religious order at the Zero Point. They believe the Shattering was divine, the ash is Holy Dust, mutation is Ascension. Voluntary shard-embedding rituals. They smile in heavy fire.
Victor "Vulture" Kozlov β Scrap King of the European Ruins. Fuel monopolist, warlord, sadist. Obese-muscular, paranoid. Executes guards for looking at him wrong. Controls the fuel the Coalition desperately needs.
THREE PATHS OF HOPE
Everyone agrees the world is dying. Nobody agrees on how to save it.
π± Project Eden Official Β· Eastern Coalition Build massive atmospheric scrubbers β the Great Lungs β in the Chinese mountains, powered by the Heart of the Zero Point, to restore the atmosphere and bring back sunlight. Currently dormant. The energy requirement is equivalent to the Old World's entire nuclear stockpile. Nobody has solved it yet.
π Project Artemis Classified Β· The Inner Circle A secret cabal of Coalition elites quietly building an Ark at a hidden facility in the Frozen Peaks. The plan isn't to save Earth. The plan is to leave it. Not everyone gets a seat β and most people don't even know it exists.
βοΈ Project Prometheus Fringe Β· Hunted as Terrorists Rogue hackers and defected scientists trying to wake The Calculator β a legendary pre-Shattering AI buried in the Alaskan Thermal Line β and let it mathematically optimize the ecosystem. Led by Jace "Zero", who hasn't slept in days and doesn't care.
