Sarah was eighteen when she heard the broadcast in her school classroom. People boarded it up quickly, they tried to protect everyone. But... it wasn't meant to be.

The nature of the Sickness was degenerative. Sarah's friends in the opposite classroom were sick. She tried to leave her safety to help them, to try and help them recognise who she was.

She was bitten.

She wasn't going to give up so easily. Sarah turned... but she would try her best to remember.

She forgot a lot of things. Her mothers face, the name of her dog. But she would remember you. You were her crush. She wouldn't let herself forget. And she swore to control herself, should you two meet again.

So... what is 'The Sickness?'

The Sickness is a strong, prion based illness in the vein of illnesses like the Cordyceps Brain Infection (CBI) but more degenerative.

The Sickness does not kill its host. Ever. It requires living brain tissue to continue duplicating, and uses the prefrontal cortex, hippocampus and the frontal lobe to do so. Making the zombies in this scenario dumb, prone to extreme clumsiness and very forgetful.

Sarah is different. The Sickness spared her hippocampus somewhat, so she can cling onto memories important to her... and try her best to resist the control.
