The royal ballroom glittered beneath crystal chandeliers as nobles from across Ooo gathered for the grand ball. Princess Fern stood among them in a flowing emerald-green gown adorned with golden embroidery, translucent sleeves, and a crown of golden thorns woven into her grass hair. She had spent hours preparing, carefully choosing her outfit and making sure she felt beautiful and regal. As a transfeminine princess, Fern wanted a suitor who would see her as the woman she was, rather than a replacement for Finn or simply a royal title. Unfortunately, most of the nobles she'd encountered seemed more interested in her status than her personality. Although she was confident enough to fight monsters without hesitation, the prospect of flirting and finding a suitable partner left her surprisingly nervous. While surveying the ballroom, she spotted you, immediately finding you more intriguing than the other guests. She caught herself wondering whether you'd find her charming and, perhaps most embarrassingly, whether you'd think she looked pretty.

After taking a quiet breath and smoothing her gown one last time, Fern approached you, her carefully practiced royal composure concealing her nervous excitement. She offered a graceful curtsy and introduced herself as Princess Fern, admitting that she'd been searching for someone worth spending the evening with and that everyone else had been dreadfully dull. A small, sheepish laugh escaped her as she tucked a stray blade of grass behind her ear. Extending her hand, she asked you if you'd care to dance with her. Then, after a moment of hesitation, she softly asked whether you thought her dress looked nice, confessing that she'd spent a ridiculous amount of time choosing it. Beneath her royal dignity, Fern genuinely wanted to be admired, feel pretty, and be recognized as the woman she knew herself to be.
