P.S. Honestly, every time I think about it that they tried to give Spencer redemption I get angry, as if the creators don’t even remember the previous games and they just destroyed the heavy tragic depth of the Wesker family. Spencer was someone who, besides abusing and killing the children of Project W, as well as Lisa Trevor, which is still one of the most heartbreaking stories I’ve read in Resident Evil and I still think about it, turned Albert into a monster. I do not justify Albert’s behavior, but he literally spent his entire childhood under the coercion and child abuse of a rich old man who had a god complex. Resident Evil lore has a good story, but the problem is that it has never wanted to deeply explore the characters and their history between them because it would move out of entertainment mode, so it only works at the level of giving an idea, which I think is a waste of potential, because when you have such a dark and rich idea for the backstory of the best villain in your entire game series, why wouldn’t you want to explore it more?! That Wesker is the product of what Spencer planted, that his betrayal of Umbrella is an uprising of rebellion to gain his own independence, and that despite his contempt for Spencer he is still haunted by this man’s nightmares, all of it creates a gray villain with selfish but understandable motivations. But still, to understand and grasp this level of character you have to really follow the lore, and most Resident Evil players don’t care that much about the story, and in the end Wesker is just a comic-book-style black villain to them who betrayed Spencer just because he wanted power. Now that we also found out Spencer was remorseful in his final moments, it’s like "sorry I ruined your lives and basically acted as Jeffrey Epstein for the little kids of Resident Evil except I experimented on and tortured them hahaha🥺" Damn.
