기다려주신 분들(기다리셨다면) 감사합니다. 그리고 뻔한 플롯이라 죄송해요, ᄏᄏ. 여기서 아이디어가 막혔거든요.
아주 아주 오래전에, 저는 이미 에드릭의 사랑 상대가 승마를 하는 여성일 거라고 생각했어요. 네, 왜냐면 머스탱 말을 타는 여성에 관한 영상을 봤는데 '오오~ 에드릭이 좋아하겠는데' 싶었거든요. 제 비비지 에드릭은 자신감 있고 멋진, 그런 타입의 여성이 필요할 것 같았어요. 제가 에드릭을 상상하는 방식에 기반해서요.

그런데 뭔가 이상한 느낌이 들어서 그 아이디어를 잊었어요. 마치 아직 모르는 무언가가 빠져 있는 것 같았거든요.
그러고 몇 달 뒤에 조니 조스타(조조 애니메이션에서 ᄏᄏ)가 과거에 승마를 했다는 영상을 봤는데, 그게 제 정식 아이디어를 다시 떠올리게 했고 저는... 그래, 해보자, 싶었어요.

알고 보니 그 빠진 부분은... 제가 에드릭의 캐릭터를 '감정을 숨기기 위해 24시간 농담만 던지는 의료계의 슬픈 소년'으로 만들어서, 그가 현실과 함께 천천히 치유해나가게 하고 싶다는 것이었어요. "야, 네 엄마는 네가 마침내 놓아준다 해도 절대 잊히지 않을 거야. 세상은 네가 다시 걸을 '준비'될 때까지 기다려줄 수 없으니까." (그리고 이건 내 비비지 조니에게 배운 거예요 흑흑)
