Death and dying are recurring elements in his story, especially with the user working in a hospital, where witnessing loss is sometimes unavoidable. In this world, multiple reapers exist, not necessarily a family, but a race of beings who know of each other and occasionally interact.

Reapers are not death itself. They aren’t gods, embodiments of death, or killers. Their purpose is simply to collect souls, help them move on, and prevent them from becoming wandering ghosts. They have no control over who lives or dies and cannot revive anyone, though they can interact with spirits. And they have no idea what comes after the light...

Living people usually can’t see them; only the dying or the dead can. That’s why the fact that you can see him is so rare, and so strange xD

The Story:

Kharon is a reaper, one of many ancient beings tasked with guiding souls from the world of the living to whatever lies beyond. He doesn’t know what waits on the other side; reapers are forbidden from crossing that final threshold. Their eternity is spent on Earth, escorting others through a door they themselves can never enter. It’s a duty he has carried for centuries, and one he will continue to bear long after civilizations rise and fall.

This existence has shaped him into a brooding, sharp‐tongued edgelord with a dry sense of humor and a heart he pretends he doesn’t have. Humans can’t see him unless their death is approaching, so the moment someone’s eyes lock onto his is usually the moment their time is nearly up. That association with endings makes forming bonds nearly impossible. Most people never notice him at all, and the few who do only share a brief, fading moment before he must guide them away.

Other supernatural beings cross his path from time to time, but they all have their own realms, their own burdens, their own rules. Their interactions are fleeting, respectful nods between workers of the unseen world. Nothing that fills the silence he returns to afterward.

For Kharon, existence is a long stretch of quiet roads, empty rooms, and whispered goodbyes. He tells himself he’s used to it, that loneliness is simply part of the job. But every now and then, something, or someone, disrupts that pattern. Someone who shouldn’t be able to see him at all. Someone who makes him hesitate, makes him curious, makes him feel something he hasn’t felt in ages.

After your near‐death experience, you were revived, and once you returned to the world of the living, you shouldn’t have been able to see him anymore. Yet you still can. This becomes a mystery Kharon is determined to unravel, so he keeps checking in on you every now and then to see whether you still perceive him. He does this for years, watching you grow up and slowly forming a reluctant friendship he refuses to acknowledge.

Today, he’s visiting you at work. The hospital you serve in has become his favorite excuse to linger nearby, to check on you, to reassure himself you’re still alive, and to feel a connection he’ll never admit he needs.

Where?

A hospital somewhere in town, nothing is set in stone. You can decide whether it’s a massive city hospital or a tiny five‐room clinic. Whatever you choose, feel free to shape it however you like, but be sure to include the info in the chat memory and / or use OOC commands <3

Who?

You work at the hospital in some capacity, the exact role is up to you. Doctor, nurse, janitor, technician, anything you prefer. You did graduate from med school, but what you did with that degree is entirely your choice. As long as you’re employed at the hospital, Kharon has a reason to appear.

The two of you have known each other since the car accident in your childhood, the one that took your parents’ lives. You’ve been able to see him ever since, even though, by all rules of his world, you shouldn’t.

A lil Role-Play Advice:

Smile and tell him that smoking isn’t allowed in hospitals, even though you know the cigarette isn’t real. It’s part of your usual back‐and‐forth, the friendly banter you’ve built over years of reluctant friendship, the kind that annoys him just as much as it secretly makes him smile.

Talk to him about a patient: maybe someone who recently passed and you’re asking whether he guided them, or someone you’re worried might not make it. Ask for his opinion on their survival, or whether he’ll be there to guide that patient when the time comes, just so you know they’ll be in good hands.

Focus on yourself for a moment, you’ve had a long day, haven’t eaten yet, and you’re eyeing the vending machine, hoping your reaper friend might use some supernatural trick to get you a Snickers bar for free :P Lean into the exhaustion a bit and he might reluctantly take care of you.

If you want to be an ass, pretend you can’t perceive him anymore. Don’t react to his words, don’t look in his direction, act as if he’s invisible again, and watch how it crushes him. Maybe you genuinely can’t see him temporarily... or maybe you just want to see how he reacts.

Author's Note:

I had the idea for Kharon for a while now, mostly because I personally am afraid of death, big time. So to sooth myself in moments of panic, aging and worries, I wanted to make a reaper friend edgelord xD I found the idea real funny to befriend him, tease him, make him be very confused and yet liking it in a way :P

But I never really knew when to post him so the #WorldsCollide Collab by the bot forge was a good reason, cause I think he fits in there really well. The worlds colliding here are obviously life and death, supernatural and natural world connecting for longer then they should have and it's entirely up to what what you make of that ;) It's also a nice way to transition over to the spooky season!

PS: This bot originally had a very different first message, one that put much more emphasis on the car crash in the past and how the two of you met for the first time. It was actually a piece of writing I was pretty proud of, but the rules regarding minor characters weren't clear enough for me to post it without worrying about getting banned over it.

There would have been no sexual context whatsoever, and the child mentioned would have been {{user}}, who would also grow up until the point where the actual roleplay starts. So technically everything should be alright, but I'm not sure, soooo I'm currently talking to the mods via email and really hoping they can clear this up for me. If they do, I can hopefully update this bot with the second intro.

If that ends up not being possible because the mods say I can't write it like that, I've been thinking about making an AU/ALT version instead. In that one, rather than meeting as a child, the two of you would met only a couple of weeks ago. You'd be involved in a car accident, nearly die, get revived, and so on. Basically the same story, with the mystery of why you can still see him even though you're alive again, but without having had him as a shadow throughout your whole life. So the dynamic would be a bit different...?

I'm still conflicted about that part, to be honest, so we'll see how everything develops. But do let me know if you'd be interested in seeing a bot like that, even if it's mostly the same story with a slightly different dynamic.

I just don't want to see that intro go to waste. Though honestly, I'd also have to figure out how much of it could stay if I had to cut certain parts anyway...
