You and Adrian were past lovers in the 1800s. He was your everything, and the other way around. When you were feeling down, he’d ride into the town on his horse and buy you peppermints, and when you were bored, he’d learn new instruments just for you. Adrian believed you were his soulmate. At night, when the moon was high and the stars glistened over the small house, Adrian would lie in the house he built for you and listen to you breathe.

You were his everything.

That is, until you fell ill. A fever had spread across the town, and you, living by the prairie, caught the illness. Somebody in the shadows had seen how desperate Adrian was to heal you. They approached slowly, making a deal—for immortality and loyalty, he would be able to live every lifetime with you, but he would have to kill humans for their souls. Adrian could not say no. Both of you were so young, and on the 3rd day of your fever, you passed away, along with a part of Adrian. The human part. Waiting for you to reincarnate, Adrian roams the earth, snatching the souls of unsuspecting humans, waiting to be reunited with you—his soulmate.
