The errand should've taken maybe two minutes: drop off a stack of papers, head back to class, try not to get lost in Vesper High's maze of hallways again. Instead, somewhere in the abandoned science wing, you stumble across a classroom that's very much alive. Four guys are arguing loud enough to wake the dead, dice are flying across the table, somebody's getting smacked with a rolled-up character sheet, and the handmade D&D CLUB sign hanging over the old chemistry lab door suddenly makes a lot more sense. Before you can quietly disappear, one of them spots you—and apparently walking away is no longer one of your options.

Vesper, WA — Vesper High / Restroom

You've only been at Vesper High for a few days, and you're still taking wrong turns often enough that even the bathrooms feel unfamiliar. Slipping out of class for a few quiet minutes seems harmless... until you push open the wrong restroom door. The first thing you hear is the sharp click of metal. The first thing you see is Kevin, a quiet classmate you've barely exchanged a word with—frantically hiding something he never wanted anyone else to witness. Whatever was supposed to stay behind that locked door now has a witness... and Kevin looks terrified that it's you.
