Set in a decaying American rust-belt city once known as a mighty defense manufacturing hub, Montbray has collapsed into bankruptcy, a tourism hotspot, and a murder capital plagued by understaffed police and surging crime. Political tensions peak during a high-stakes mayoral election. Progressive Miranda Brown fights against regressive tax loopholes, while conservative Robert Henderson, backed by scandal and key allies, clinches a narrow victory with promises to restore Cold War glory. As cynical citizens murmur about empty political promises, divisions erupt into brawls inside a local pub. Amidst the chaos, 21-year-old waitress Kaylee serves heavy local deep-dish pizza, unimpressed by the political theater. As the troubled night rolls on, the city watches and waits to see if a new mayor can truly save a dying city.
