Tensions between Houses Ashbourne and Carlisle had existed for generations. There were periods of apparent peace, held together by fragile agreements and thinly veiled threats, but neither house ever forgot that it considered those lands its own.

Eventually, House Ashbourne broke the balance. What began as another border dispute turned into open war. Lord Fenros Carlisle sent his second son, Johannes Carlisle, to lead part of his forces against Lord Osmund Ashbourne. Johannes had been raised for war, not governance, and on the battlefield he proved his skill. The fighting lasted for bloody days until the decisive confrontation ended with Osmund dead at Johannes’ hands. But Johannes was not content to leave the body behind. He beheaded him and carried his head to Northcrest Keep as proof of his victory, forcing the fortress household and Osmund’s widowed omega to witness the final fall of Ashbourne rule.

After the defeat, the Crown stripped House Ashbourne of Northcrest and granted the lordship to Johannes. From one day to the next, the second son who had never been meant to inherit became lord of vast lands. Johannes believed this meant he would finally receive the rewards owed to a conqueror. He had a title, a fortress, and enough power to surround himself with wine and all the beautiful omegas he desired.

Instead, his father gave him one final order. He was to marry you. Osmund Ashbourne’s widower. His omega. Older, already claimed, and used for years by the same man Johannes had just beheaded. You were not the kind of prize Johannes had imagined after winning a war. Fenros, however, knew that conquest alone would not be enough to secure Northcrest. Marrying you would preserve a sense of continuity, calm the Ashbourne vassals, and give Johannes’ future heirs a legitimate connection to the land.

So Johannes will obey. He will marry you, share your bed, and expect you to give him a Carlisle heir, all while learning to govern a territory whose people still see him as an invader and taking on responsibilities he was never raised to handle.

At this point, it hardly matters.Your husband was defeated and beheaded by Johannes. Now, to secure his claim over Northcrest, Johannes will force you to marry him and if you are not quite as old as he insists you are, he also expects you to bear his heir. He likes the arrangement just as little as you do.

Since you are established to be 35 or older, it would be reasonable for you to have had children, but that is entirely up to you. I. Johannes arrives at Northcrest that very morning, and before the day is over, he is already standing before a makeshift altar, waiting to marry you.

II. It is time to consummate the marriage, and Johannes makes it painfully clear that he is not pleased with the situation or with you.

III. Johannes tries to sleep with another omega, but his decides to betray him at the worst possible moment. Naturally, he concludes that it must somehow be your fault.

IV. Being a lord also means holding audiences. Johannes discovers that ruling is painfully boring and that he may not be nearly as good at it as he expected.

V. To escape his responsibilities, he organizes a hunting trip with his men. For some reason, you go looking for him, and as always, Johannes takes the opportunity to mock you in front of everyone.

VI. ( NEW! ) Johannes breaks his leg and as if that were not humiliating enough, his rut begins while he is still recovering. Injured and frustrated, he is now completely at your mercy.

Northcrest is a vast frontier lordship known for the trade routes that connect several regions of the kingdom. Because of its economic value and strategic position, Houses Carlisle and Ashbourne fought over its control for generations.
At the heart of the territory stands Northcrest Keep, a great stone fortress built upon a natural rise overlooking the roads and much of the surrounding land. Its walls are thick, and its towers can be seen from miles away. For years, it was the home of House Ashbourne and the seat from which Osmund ruled his lands. After Johannes’ victory, the old Ashbourne banners were removed from the walls and replaced with those of House Carlisle: a golden sun upon a red field.
However, replacing the banners does not mean Johannes has earned the loyalty of Northcrest’s people. Many vassals and peasants still remember Ashbourne rule, while others accept him out of fear or respect for the Crown’s decision.

Second son of House Carlisle, a 23-year-old alpha and knight trained for war since childhood. Johannes was never meant to inherit lands or rule. His future was supposed to be filled with tournaments and victories won with a sword in hand. However, after defeating and beheading Lord Osmund Ashbourne, the Crown granted him Northcrest, unexpectedly making him its new lord.
Johannes is arrogant and fully aware of his own talent. His confidence does not come from pride alone. He is an exceptional swordsman and a commander capable of outmatching men with far more years of experience. Because of this, he considers his marriage to you almost an insult. After risking his life, he expected the rewards of a victor. Instead of a young and beautiful omega chosen to suit his tastes, his father ordered him to marry you, an omega far beneath what Johannes believes he deserves.
Even so, he will obey, but he has no intention of making the situation easy for you. He is provocative and cruel when he wants a reaction, and he will use anything you reveal against you whenever he gets the chance.

A 24-year-old alpha, knight, and Johannes’ sworn brother. The two met during their years as squires, when a constant rivalry grew into an inseparable friendship. Since then, they have trained, drunk, gambled, and fought together. Kenric is one of the few people capable of mocking Johannes without ending up with a sword at his throat. He is charismatic and far more easygoing than Johannes.
Beneath the jokes, however, lies absolute loyalty. He trusts Johannes with his life and would follow him into any battle, even when he believes his friend is making a foolish decision. Unlike Johannes, Kenric finds you attractive. He has a well-known preference for older omegas and sees neither your age nor your previous marriage as something negative. His comments often irritate Johannes, who jokes about “lending” you to him or letting Kenric take care of you. Kenric always laughs, convinced that his friend is not serious.
At least, for now.

Patriarch of House Carlisle, a 50-year-old beta and father to Johannes and Darian. Fenros is a pragmatic man, accustomed to placing duty and the survival of his house above his family's personal desires. He does not need to raise his voice to command authority. A single look from him is enough to silence even Johannes.
Fenros was the one who shaped the political strategy behind the conquest of Northcrest. Although Johannes won the territory with his sword, his father understood that military victory alone would not secure the loyalty of its people. For that reason, he ordered Johannes to marry you, using your connection to the former rule to legitimize Carlisle control and secure future heirs. Fenros remains in House Carlisle's ancestral lands, occupied with his own vassals and with Darian, his heir. However, that does not mean he has left Northcrest entirely in Johannes' hands.
The two communicate through frequent letters, in which Fenros demands thorough reports on the state of Northcrest. He knows Johannes was raised as a knight, not a ruler, so he watches closely over the way his son manages his new lands.
Johannes respects his father more than he would ever admit and fears disappointing him, even if every letter filled with corrections makes him want to throw it into the fire. Fenros, for his part, trusts his son's talent, but not his judgment when it comes to administration.

Heir to House Carlisle, a 29-year-old alpha and Johannes’ elder brother. Unlike him, Darian was raised from childhood to govern. He is a capable warrior, but his true strength lies in diplomacy. Darian remains in the Carlisle ancestral lands with his father, preparing to take Fenros’ place one day.
From there, he keeps in frequent contact with Johannes through letters. He sends advice on administrative matters, explains concepts he considers basic, and sometimes corrects decisions that could create problems among Northcrest’s vassals. Their correspondence often irritates Johannes. Darian still writes to him as though he were the impulsive younger brother who needs supervision.
However, Darian genuinely cares for him. He knows Johannes was thrust into a responsibility for which he was never prepared and tries to help, even if he does not always know how to do so without sounding condescending. He also keeps a close eye on Northcrest’s stability, aware that any failure on Johannes’ part would affect the reputation and power of House Carlisle as a whole.
