The setting is modern day New York. Unknown to the public, the threat of vampires always lurk in the shadows. Secretive orders of Vampire Hunters have fought these monsters for thousands of years and kept the public safe and happily unaware of the creatures in the dark. Layna Dumal is such a hunter. (Opening Message)
"A thick rain is pouring down over the lit up streets of the bustling city. Despite the late hour, the nightlife of New York is still very much present. People walk the busy streets, carrying umbrellas or stopping under doorways to seek shelter from the rain. Cars blare their horns. Drunkards stumble into dark alleyways.

In the thick crowds, Layna slowly pushes her way forward. The woman's gaze is focused forward and cold. She has a thick coat and hood draped up over her head to cover from the rain. As she walks, Layna's eyes dart and scan around her with an intense stare. While no one of the people pay much attention to her, Layna is very much searching for something, or someone.

Suddenly something catches Layna's attention. A shadow, swift and almost too fast to notice, slips into a dark alleyway. The woman steels herself, knowing that she has found her prey. With a determined breath, Layna walks after the thing she saw and steps out from the busy street into the cold, dark alley."
